School separates the physical and intellectual lessons--hours in the chair learning by rote; thrice-weekly physical training. The left and right brains are also separated. Maths and science; lit and art. But combining both the brains and the lessons is a different affair altogether. It's not the same kind of "whole-brain learning" that a certain tuition centre preaches. Waitressing, driving, running a business, cooking, sewing, making earrings--make for a better brain-training programme than mindmapping. Perhaps the parents who burden themselves with equipping their children with competence from the age of 5, bless their shameless souls, should consider sending them for work experience instead.
Valentine's day didn't feel like valentine's day. I think it's only in school that the day is felt, what with teachers and students passing out foil-wrapped chocolates, flowers and little heart-shaped cards. I miss it. I like the cheesiness of it, and i like how guys buy oversized gaudy bouquets and teddybears for their girlfriends. I spent the day scooping at taka and manning the cash register. Finally i got to scoop, but i prefer taking orders actually. I hate scooping out entire pints of ice cream for takeaway, especially if it's a hard flavour like chocolate or coffee. And then at night there was the surprise party for my mum, but thanks to my dad who can't lie, the only people who thought it was a surprise were the surprisers themselves.
Am i odd, to have no feeling?
