The parents are back from hongkong, and now the house is filled with cantopop, new goodies from my secret shopping centre, and a considerable lot of commotion. It's impossible to concentrate on all my typography projects and psychology and soon hwa's paper. But I've figured that whether or not I finish my work by wednesday, wednesday will come soon, and after that I shan't have a care in the world.
Yesterday it did seem that I didn't have a care. We studied in church until we were locked in and had to clamber over the gate (although now we know a way to open the locked gate). But I fell asleep or talked most of the day, because it was cloudy and dim and so my suprachiasmatic nucleus sensed that it was night, and transmitted signals to my brain that made me sleepy. I miss studying like that because of the company, and because meals become such highlights of the day. We were looking forward to dinner all day. When I do artwork, I'm all alone and forget about mealtimes. I love the east at night--it bustles and is bright, and reminds me of nights I shouldn't have been out. I understand the east pride vaguely now, though I still think eastphiles are snobs. The west sets with the sun, and everything goes to sleep. Especially in my part of the countryside where there is only the lake.
............
And because meals are highlights nowadays:
The jc flavour: chilled kitkat chunky, fried potato balls, chicken mayo toasties, stef's nougats, deep fried fish slices, tang yuan, red apple and peach juice
The flavour of pre-uni holidays: caramel lattes, aglio olio, haagen dazs's tiramisu milkshakes, cold storage honey chicken steaks, black orange soda, sandwiches from toast
The flavour of uni days: avocado and honey dew shakes, mac's grilled chicken foldovers, can 2 chicken cutlets, waffles with cheese or yam ice cream, rice with things, can a jap curry, can 13 bulgogi
And i've found the best studying place in ntu, with hazelnut lattes and kettle chips and cakes and ice cream, and a good view. I say good food can be found everywhere you go.
