So I've become quite the website addict lately, churning out .coms the way I used to churn out new blog addresses. But each one is different! Anyway this is what I've been busy with these weeks.

It arose out of k's fixation with looking for suitcases and finding none on our sunny island. He then suggested we import some lovely ones, and so we did. We talked about all the things that we are (carefree picnickers on a beach) and all the things we didn't want to be (blogshop owners) and eventually decided we'd host our usual Hammock Days and sell things at the same time.
More important than the goods is that we get to spread our picnic lifestyle. Anything that has to do with wide open spaces. Nothing to do with crowded malls.
It's the love of all things real and solid. Music. Furniture. Sunshine. Art. Travel.
We want to create a world that is wholly earthbound, to bring people's attention back to these things.
Plus I've always always wanted to sell household items. To be specific, teapots. Teapots with my drawings on them. And with a nomad sea, I'm one step closer to that dream. But cushions and chairs are a good start.
We've been working on three pieces of furniture, and this one is almost done. It's been a steep learning curve, and my parents were initially horrified when they learned I was going to store old furniture outside my door. But they've accepted it, just as they accepted it when I broke news that I had started a catering business and would need them to help ferry food to customers' houses. The things kids put their parents up to.
Wherever this leads, I hope that it will make the best use of time and talents, and bring people together in a wholesome way. Eventually I want to sell artwork too, not just mine, but prints by dear talented friends. And it's a platform for k to start ukulele-busking too. Everybody wins on Hammock Day.
