I can't believe we met our objective at the 40 DOP celebration lunch, which was to win the costume competition. There was no fight; the only worthy contenders were a bunch of golfers and two groups of Rick Warrens. (still, we would have won them if we had gone as rick warrens with stuffed shirts) We wore signs on our fronts--mine read "I'm a fashion disaster"--and signs on our backs that read "but God still loves me". I have never experienced being stared at and laughed at by hundreds of people. Now i know just how many colours I can get away with.
I don't think we would have done this before 40DOP. Something happened in the last 6 weeks--something quite wonderful and transforming.
And that has been the highlight of my week. That, and the indulgent irresponsibility I let myself enjoy, with all the extra sleep. I'm quite convinced that sleep is more important than an extra hour of work.
