Do you know how transparent your eyes are?
Through them I see the color of screams:blood crimson and black stripes
in sad drips down the windshield of a car
at night, with the engine on, as you wait
And I see all your sleepless nights and heavy footprints
and I see my sins carved onto the wall, rows and rows of my guilt
laid bare as a wound that you love
and I hear grating metal and the most painful silence
So I never look too long. I try to escape them.
I'm afraid that I will fall in
those wells of eyes, black and deep as being forgotten
and be punished with the knowledge of
the extent of your loneliness.
