I stare hard because I don't carry a camera with me everywhere I go. I remember the details people think I'm crazy to remember. I remember what colour the Christmas decorations were as we ate, I remember what I was wearing when I received the very last phonecall from you, I remember chin tilts, foot shuffles, scents. I make a conscious inventory of all these things because I know each time could be the last.
This is how life repays us for taking things for granted. The most beautiful things are made to vanish, so that we will sit up and pay attention. You love sunsets only because they end.
