The best thing about growing older is realising how unimportant identity is. My teenage years were spent constructing this thing called Self, by taking absurd numbers of online personality quizzes and making lists of favourite things. Quizzes and lists have limited me beyond imagination; for the sake of Self I have stayed away from hiphop, everything mac, retouching makeup in public, singing, unglam situations and korean dramas. The recent part of my life has been spent chiseling the Self down into a heap of rubble. Nobody actually cares about my Self.

So I have done a number of things that surprised my Self lately. Like boarding a train with kids in wet yellow disposable ponchos, going to a naturel hot spring, putting japanese hiphop on repeat, and taking my cousin round and round the ice skating rink.

Let's hope I continue finding new ways to destroy Self.
