I have always held slight condescension for blogs that are dedicated to pets. But for this week at least, I am someone who blogs about her cat. I know a lot of you out there are also in love with Fiver. If not, at least you don't mind him out of all the cats you've met and hated, because of his size and clumsiness and fat furface.

I'm pleased to tell you then that Fiver drank last night, for the first time in days. We are still coaxing him to eat, but water is always more important. I figured the way to make him drink was to help him reassociate food and drink with happy times. The days at the hospital taught him that food was squirted down his throat. We are keeping him happy at home, treating him like a normal cat so he can believe he's normal before his body gets there. As long as he's happy, there's still hope of him regaining his strength.

ET, lonely and lost without another cat in the house, and so cuddling up on my table in Fiver's usual spot.

Fiver's second day at home. The first time he ventured out of the balcony to socialize. He still looks huge, doesn't he. But he's already bonier than what he was, and he feels light in my arms. No more rippling muscles or chunky hunkiness. They're both really asleep on the floor.
