In true 21st century communication fashion, Dawn doesn't say, "Tell me about your new job," but instead, "Blog about your new job."

And so a typical day at the new job involves me walking across an overhead bridge at 11 am, past Oosh, past the strange garden of squawking parrots, past the Persian carpet shop that has most unwisely decided to line its carpeted walls with Chinese New Year lanterns and firecrackers, to a store full of eyewear that I could never afford.

I sit there and try to play at marketing, which in true 21st century communication fashion, means looking at facebook ads and blogs and such. I water the plants outside. I try on Phillip Lims and Derek Lams and Karen Walker samples. I still think I look better with contact lens. The colleagues are worked much harder than I am; I technically can leave at 1 pm to work from home, while they leave at 9 or 11 pm. I like to stay till evening though, as it's quiet and the people are pleasant. Today I found cheap sausage on rye at Hubers Butchery, which made my colleague excited.

I do feel a funny sadness when I think about my old colleagues back at Toa Payoh. How they're going for lunch at the same couple of places, how they'll stay longer than required, how glum mornings are but how true friendships run deep under the surface, how they'll be there for a long time to come.
