Things my almost-4-year-old says:
"But how did we start talking about this?"
"I didn't know that, jie jie. Thank you for telling me. Just keep thinking about it, okay?"
(the jie jie: Stop saying okay!")
"You must be kind to your friends, jie jie."
"Anyway, my prediction is.. it's a girl." (about "yana" grace's upcoming sibling)
Things my 9-year-old says:
me: What do we bring to people's houses at Chinese new year? Two--what?
"Chinese cookies? The one where you crack it open and there's a paper inside?"
(upon saying goodbye to our Malay neighbour)
"Is she speaking Spanish?"
"Is Mulan an English girl?"
"It's a hot day, eh?"
"What will happen if my friends see my long hair like Rapunzel?"
Every day I navigate hundreds of questions from these two people who are confidently confused about the world.
