So yesterday was metro-cip day. It went much better than anything i'd heard or expected! We were busy the whole ten hours, on our feet, and we gave away more than three baskets of bears and many more coupons. It was swarming with nice people. A couple of highlights: nice indian man who let me carry his baby while he filled in a lucky draw coupon haha, and four little girls who came with a one dollar coin each to buy bears. One thing i don't understand though, is the illogical way people turn down requests. "no thanks", or "it's okay." Right. But it was an interesting day. The metro staff are insane! Choosing their bears and reserving them. I wasn't even really bothered by the music, or lack of it. For ten hours we listened to Prince Ken serenading Swan Princess Barbie on a mattel advert.
On that note, toys nowadays are amazing! In my time Barbie had to live in velcro-backed garish shift dresses and pink houses with pink kitchens and pink tv sets. Now the "my scene" barbies aren't even platinum blonde, and they have proper, imaginative(if a bit trashy) clothes in normal colours. And oh how i used to hate ken. Ken used to look like an old man, with moulded yellow hair that clashed horribly with his orange tan. But now the guy dolls come with guitars and gleaming motorbikes. Their eyes are too big, but you can't have everything can you.
Possibly my first session with nat tomorrow morning. I've heard it takes time to win him. If i had to choose the Song of the Year, one song to represent 2003, i think i'd pick Swing swing. It caught me in february and still catches me when i listen to it now.
