Is it really only January? It really is, and it really is only the second week that Two Turtledoves has been alive. And it really is only the first week i've been working at haagen dazs. Weeks at school sped by because everything on my schedule could be ticked off one by one. I don't even know what i'll be doing tomorrow.

It finally happened. I knew the Klutz couldn't hide behind the new smooth waitress veneer forever. She came out yesterday, and tipped over a tall glass of Cool Cat over table, bags and floor in a dramatic flood of foam. I crouched behind the counter, "hiding" as i told my colleagues, while they helped me settle it. So, so embarrassing. But everyone patted me on the back and said reassuring things like "xiao shi" and "happens all the time", which was pretty unbelievable to me given my state of trauma then. The auntie was the nicest, and said no one here would ever scold me, not even the "fat manager". Other than that my thursday went well, because i learnt how to make americano and expresso coffee. I also learnt that coffee tastes really bad and i wonder why people order it. I think i couldn't sleep last night cos of all the coffee i drank. Ahmad let me drink his iced mocha, and jun leong turned my horrible americano into a cappuccino. I get the point, they make better coffee than i do, thank you. They also fed me two sake cupfuls of macadamia milkshake, little thai kueh and flattened waffle cones. And the store manager who calls himself a part-time dishwasher sang "my prerogative" to me and said "the lyrics fit me right?" My managers, however, have taken to imitating the way i blink, which shuts me up even more than before. So you see, the term "friendly service crew" isn't an empty slogan at all at haagen dazs.

Dinner job tonight, into the kitchen i go.
