So tomorrow, in good tradition, I am going to my personal beach in the south of the world. That spot of sand with its deckchair and view of old caucasians in the distance has seen me through many a thoughtful moment. But this time I'm not going there to escape anything here. That's the difference about my life in recent times.

The shopping mood struck today. I met thick-haired charmian at last, and we meandered forever through a small space that was crammed with shops. We're still only half-done; we shall continue our shopping tour next week. What i appreciate about thick-haired charmian is she acts upon her shopping mood efficiently. As in she goes into every shop, tries things almost immediately (so fast that i don't catch the moment she enters the dressing room), and decides to buy.

Aimei's shopping pattern is admirable but alarming. She combs the whole store and picks out 6 pieces to try because that is the maximum allowed, then goes into the dressing room for half an hour because she looks for 10 different ways to wear all the clothes. We call her twice on her handphone to hurry up, she usually picks up only the second time. Sometimes after emerging, she goes for a second round. Often, she buys nothing.

Dawn tries things outside the dressing room sometimes because she wears them layered anyway. She is a clearheaded visionary who anoints her chosen clothing items and decides to buy them without hesitation. All the shop owners know her, and she makes reservations and leaves her phone number all over the place.

As for me, I only try things to kill curiosity forever (eg: what would i look like in a puffy-sleeved top? okay, now that i know, i don't have to eye those anymore, eeyuck) or if I already think I will buy them. Which means very selective shopping. This is why I am mostly standing around flipping through racks while the above mentioned friends are trying and buying away. I only buy if it's love at first sight. Not the should i really? or the this could work, but the instant Definitely Yes for Eternity. Not even if it's Yes for this season. It must match perfectly with the picture i've always had in my mind, without compromise.

This shopping analysis has turned out to be quite deep and philosophical. I feel much enlightened.
