We found out how to make Fiver eat and drink.
Drinking: He started drinking only after I carried him and coaxed him with many soft words like "it's your choice!" and buttered him up into a happy and malleable state. Then I have to lift the bowl to his lips and continue to pat him.
Eating: We have to empty his plate and show him that it's clean, then fill it to the brim with biscuits. Then he'll come and eat the few pieces at the top.

The last few days have been manic. With this:
and the last paper,
and a major shopping trip that resulted in:
-a beading set
-a craft set
-two pairs of 'friends forever' necklaces
-puffy bead-filled stickers
-ice-cream pens
-tiny notepads
-red cushions
-bright towels
-a rug (for myself)
and another shopping list today that will bring in:
-tiaras
-hairclips and rubberbands
-wrapping paper
-girly toothbrushes and fruity toothpaste
-travel-sized soap and shampoo sets
-bells
all for the two girls I'll be taking care of next week.
I saw many many toys yesterday and I wish I was a kid. Or that I had a kid. I would go delirious decorating a little girl's room with dollhouses and tea sets, or dressing my little boy up as a fireman.
I heard this song in toys'r'us. A child was singing, "Friends make life worthwhile."
Gee.
There's really no time before camp to do everything I need to do. I plastered myself to the floor to draw and couldn't stop sneezing.
On another note, I was so awed by the crowd at manics on monday. To see 3000 people singing (okay from my vantage point I couldn't see the crowd past ten rows behind me) songs that have been my personal heart-bursting songs, and to know without further investigation that we all probably like the same kind of other things. And manics, I cannot imagine music without the manic street preachers. In a world of fluffy love songs, they are a solid weight that pins us down to the oft-forgotten truth that life is made up of much bigger things.
